IFT

For those of you who don't know what IFT is (probably everyone) it stands for the coolest organization to ever grace this planet. Still don't know?
The Institute of Food Technologists. Basically if you are a food scientist you are a member of this organization. This past week in Salt Lake they have a conference for their candy division. And it was AMAZING! Heather and I drove out to Salt Lake (got completely lost) and just made it to the conference on time. The food was DELICIOUS (shocking I know...) and I met some amazing people. We had to mix and sit with people from the conference instead of other students and Heather and I being awesome at picking random seats sat with the owner of Maxfields and Sweets! SOOOOO COOL! Tey told us all about their work and what they do. I heart food science! They then had a presentation about the different gums (not the gums you eat but food additive gums like xanthan gum, locust bean gum and carrageenan gum). Coolest presentation EVER! Then after Heather and I went and walked around temple square until nine when they closed. Motab was even practicing so we got to hear a few songs by them! SOOOOO cool! Overall, I think the best part was I got to dress up all business like. With the nice black pants and then nice button up shirt. I will post a picture later when I finally get it from Heather. BEST NIGHT EVER!
